Happy Easter
Happy Easter! Jesus Christ is Risen! Alleluia! He is Risen, indeed! Alleluia!
I see the images of Holy Saturday and the Easter Vigil. The new fire entered the church with great drama and effect. The sounds of “chaos” came from the piano. The Easter candle was blessed and lit. The church glowed with the hundreds of candles that we lit from the Paschal candle. Then a great number of children and adults were baptized, confirmed and given first communion. The church was full of family, friends, god-parents, and parishioners. I will remember these images for a long time. I hope those who participated will remember as well.
The next day the church was filled several times as we celebrated Easter Sunday at the 6 Masses. The first four Masses were full, to the point of standing room only! There, in the full light of day, we could see and smell the beautiful flowers, and see the Risen Christ. We felt the waters of the baptismal font after we renewed our promises. Easter is a multi-sense experience.
Of course, most of all, I appreciated the calm in my heart and soul. What a great gift we have been given – forgiveness of sin, salvation, and eternal life! All I can say is ALLELUIA!
Peace, Fr. Andy
