Season of Giving
First of all, Happy New Year!! May the New Year bring new opportunities of grace and enlightenment to your life and to the lives of your loved ones. A new year presents a chance for renewal and growth. May you take advantage!
Second, thank you to all of you who have made the Christmas Season such a blessing for others. For those who helped the community, especially the children, to prepare for Christmas at Las Posadas, I am very grateful. The children (and adults!) enjoyed the singing, praying of the rosary, dressing up like Mary and Joseph, the processions, special drinks and foods, and the piñatas. I enjoyed them, too! Thank you to the families and groups who generously organized the prayer and activities, and donated all of the food for the festivities.
Also, thank you to our musicians, liturgical ministers, and to those who decorated and prepared our worship environment. I hope that you do not feel taken for granted. The contribution of your gifts, your artistic sensibilities and awareness are truly blessings for the whole community. This Pastor does not take you for granted! I am truly grateful for who you are.
Finally, and not the least, I wish to express my profound gratitude to the whole parish family and to many other folks whose generosity made Christmas a bit more joyful through The Giving Tree and the food distribution to 60 families and more than 150 children. There were times in my own youth when my mother was suffering with cancer and anonymous people gave us food, gifts, and other donations. I have always been grateful and cherished those acts of charity that we did not ask for but were happy to receive. I am sure that your generosity touched the lives of children and parents alike in ways that cannot be measured.
For whenever you did it for the least of my brothers and sisters, you did it for me (Jesus in Matthew 25).
